He landed a major role in the American crime film, Mean Streets as Charlie, and the following year, he appeared in Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore as Ben.

In 1976, Harvey Keitel made his breakthrough with the film, Taxi Driver by portraying the character of Charles Rain. He received the National Society of Film Critics Award and New York Film Critics Circle Award nomination for his performance.
