Janet gave birth to a son named Rick Armstrong in 1957 and a daughter Karen Armstrong in 1959. Unfortunately, her daughter died in 1961 due to a brain tumor and pneumonia, which gravely affected her husband, Neil Armstrong.

Janet gave birth to her third child Mark Armstrong, in 1963. Janet used to live in Westwood, Los Angeles, for a short while after marriage.
