Early Life

Jon Hamm was born on 10th March of 1971 in Missouri called St. Louise in the U.S. He is born to Deborah Hamm and Daniel Hamm. Hamm came from German, Irish and English ancestry. His family used to own a trucking company where his father used to manage the company and his mother was a secretary.

When Ham was just two years old, his family separated after living with his mother for eight years; his mother died of colon cancer. So, Hamm went on to live in the city of Missouri called Normandy with his father and grandmother. Hamm had his first acting role during his first grade, where he characterized the Winnie-the-Pooh. Hamm never thought about going into acting during his early years. He joined John Burroughs School, where Jon Hamm was actively participating in different sports like baseball, football, and swimming. His father died when he was 20 years old.

Hamm graduated from his school and went on to attend the University of Texas. During his time at the UniversityUniversity, he was arrested and charged with violent incidents. Later on, Jon Hamm moved to the University of Missouri, where he started pursuing his acting career.

Acting Career

Jon Hamm graduated from his University in 1993 with the degree of Bachelor of Arts. He started working as an acting teacher in the high school he used to attend. Hamm was not satisfied with what Jon Hamm was doing, so Hamm left his job and moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. He started giving auditions in different theatres, and during his free time, he used to work as a waiter. During those times, he appeared in the Timon of Athens, which was one of the productions of Shakespeare.

After that, Jon Hamm couldn’t find any chance to enter the entertainment industry. Thus, he gave the last opportunity to try it out in his acting career until 30. If he couldn’t pursue those moments when he would go end his acting dream. However, things started going well after that.

In the year 2000, Hamm achieved his first film role in Providence, where he has portrayed the Burt Ridley, a romantic firefighter. The same year, Jon Hamm appeared in the adventurous movie Space Cowboys. In 2001, he appeared in the movie called Kissing Jessica Stein, and in the following years, he appeared in the war film called We were Soldiers. In the year 2002, Hamm started appearing in the T.V. series called The Division, which ended in 2004. In the movie, he has portrayed the character of Nate Basso- a police inspector.

Jon Hamm also appeared in other Tv series like What About Brian, which premiered in 2006, and CSI: Miami, which premiered in 2002. He also played small roles in the comedy-drama series called Related, a crime drama called Numb3rs, an action drama The Unit, and a Tv sitcom, The Sarah Silverman Program.

In the year 2007, Jon Hamm appeared in the drama series called Mad Men. He never thought that he would ever receive that considerable role. So Hamm also went on to give auditions in different organizations. However, he starred in the Mad Men. The series premiered on 19th July 2007. On the first day, it had 1.2 million viewers, and the critics praised him for his performance. His performance as the character in the drama became a “star-making performance,” according to USA Today. The Boston Globe also praised him as a “brilliant lead” for his performance in the theater.

Jon Hamm got his first-ever Golden Globe Award in 2008 for Best Actor in a Television Series-Drama. Moreover, he achieved nominations for the Screen Actors Guild Award and Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor and Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series. The following year in 2009, Hamm was nominated for the same categories. He set for the 3 Golden Globe Award. In 2015, the Tv series Mad Men ended. That year, Jon Hamm was awarded the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, his first Primetime Emmy Award. He received an overall of 12 nominations for the Emmy award in 2015.

During the year 2008, Jon Hamm starred in the movie The Day the Earth Stood Still, which was quite successful. After that, Hamm also worked as a host on Saturday Night Live. He also appeared in the comedy show called 30 Rock as a guest portraying the character of Drew Baird. He was nominated for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series in the Primetime Emmy Award.

After that, Jon Hamm has appeared in different movies in a lead role and as a supporting role in Stolen in 2009, The Town in 2010, Howl, Sucker Punch in 2011, The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret, A Young Doctor’s Notebook, Million Dollar Arm in 2014, Keeping Up with the Joneses in 2015, Marjorie Prime in 2017 and Nostalgia in 2018. He had also voiced in animated cartoons like Shrek Forever After and Minions.

Personal Life

During the year 1997, Jon Hamm dated Jennifer Westfeldt, who is an American screenwriter as well as an actress. He used to have a good relationship with her. He also publicly confessed how Westfeldt was more than just a girlfriend and how deep the relationship they have is. During their time together, they opened a production company named Points West Pictures. After dating for more than a decade, they got separated in 2015.

Recently, Hamm seems to be dating an actress named Anna Osceola as they were spotted spending their time together during different events and the pandemic.
