Katty Kay was born Katherine “Katty” B. Kay on 14^th November 1964 in Wallingford and grew up in Blewbury, England. She is the daughter of a British diplomat who was from Swiss while her mother’s name is Shirley who was a journalist. Katty grew up in the Middle east but she doesn’t seem to have any siblings yet.

Katty Kay is married to former BBC foreign correspondent, Thomas Richard Carver, popularly known as Tom Carver. They tied their knot in 1989 and they are now blessed with four beautiful children. Her husband is currently working in Carnegie Endowment for International Peace (CEIP) as the head of global communications. Katty currently resides in Washington, D.C. with her husband and children namely Poppy Carver, Jude Carver, Maya Carver, and Felix Carver.
