He next starred in the film, Murder by Numbers and in The Slaughter Rule. He made his second major breakthrough in 2004 with the romantic film, The Notebook alongside Rachel McAdams. He then started making breakthroughs one after another with the hit films like Half Nelson, Lars, and the Real Girl, Blue Valentine, Crazy, Stupid, Love, Drive.
Gosling further starred in Gangster Squad and made his directorial debut in 2014 with the film, Lost River alongside Matt Smith.
