Duane Chapman is an American television personality who came into the limelight after he captured the Max Factor heir, Andrew Luster, convicted of multiple sexual assaults in Mexico, 2003. Before being a TV personality, Chapman himself was a convicted murderer. He was convicted of first-degree murder when a drug deal went wrong, and his friend shot a 69-year-old pimp and drug dealer, Jerry Oliver. Chapman got sentenced to five years in Texas State Penitentiary, and after saving an inmate who was about to be shot, he was congratulated by a Corrections Officer, which inspired him to be a bounty hunter.

Duane Chapman’s full name is Duane Lee ‘Dog’ Chapman Sr. He was born on 2 February 1953 in Denver, Colorado. He got taken to father Wesley Duane Chapman, a welder and a bail bondsman, and mother Barbara Darlene Chapman, an Assemblies of God (AG) minister. He grew up alongside his three siblings, Jolene Kaye Martinez, Michael Chapman, and Paula Hammond. Duane is currently 67 years old with the zodiac sign of Aquarius.

Duane’s third marriage took place in 1982 to an American businesswoman, Lyssa Rae Britain. He had three children Barbara Katie Chapman, Tucker Dee Chapman, and Lyssa Rae Chapman. The couple split on 20 November 1991 due to Duane’s infidelity.
Duane’s fourth marriage took place in 1992 to Tawny Marie Chapman, who was addicted to amphetamines. The marriage lasted only two years, and the couple did not have any children. Duane has described this marriage as a disaster in his autobiography ‘You Can Run, but You Can’t Hide.’
Duane’s fifth and final marriage took place on 20 May 2006 to Alice Elizabeth ‘Beth’ Barmore, with whom he had two children, namely Bonnie Joanne Chapman and Garry Chapman. Beth also had a daughter from her ex-husband’s side, Cecily Barmore-Chapman, who was happily adopted by Duane. Beth also had a son, Dominic Davis, who was born when she was still a teenager. Unfortunately, Beth passed away on 26 June 2019 due to throat cancer.

Andrew Luster
Duane Chapman’s most successful bounty hunting took place on 18 June 2003 when he managed to capture the Max Factor cosmetics heir and a convict, Andrew Luster. He was convicted of drugging and raping numerous women and had multiple rape charges to his name. Duane, along with his three-man ‘hunt team,’ managed to track and capture Andrew Luster in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico living under a false name, but while bringing him to jail, all four of them got jailed in Mexico.
Beth notified the police about the capture, and after verifying Luster’s identity, he finally got sent to prison, where he’d continue his 125 years long sentence. Duane and his team got bailed. This successful capture of a criminal earned Duane freedom and a chance to start his TV show, ‘Dog the Bounty Hunter.’
Dog the Bounty Hunter
The first episode of Duane Chapman’s reality series featuring his bounty job got aired on 30 August 2004 on A&E. The series also featured Ozzy Osbourne for its theme song. The series ran for eight seasons straight and got canceled in 2012.
Dog and Beth: On the Hunt
Duane Chapman’s second reality TV series got aired in April 2013 on CMT. It was named ‘Dog and Beth: On the Hunt,’ and it featured Duane, his wife Beth, and his son Leland Chapman.
